What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. It lets the site remember things between visits — whether that’s a security challenge you already passed, a preference you selected, or an anonymous measurement.
This policy supplements our Privacy Policy. If a term used here is not defined, the definition in the Privacy Policy applies.
How we use cookies
We use the minimum cookies needed to run the Site, plus opt-in cookies for analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or profiling.
Cookies in detail
| Cookie | Set by | Type | Lifetime | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm |
Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | 30 minutes | Bot management. Distinguishes humans from bots so the Site stays up. |
cf_clearance |
Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year | Stores the result of a security challenge so you don’t have to repeat it on every page. |
cc-rating |
CleverCalculator | Strictly necessary | 1 year | A random identifier that prevents the same browser from submitting more than one star rating on a calculator. Contains no personal data. |
cc-consent |
CleverCalculator | Strictly necessary | 6 months | Records your response to the cookie banner so we don’t ask again every visit. |
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 | Analytics — opt-in | 13 months | Assigns a random identifier to your browser so we can count unique sessions. Only set if you accept analytics on the consent banner. |
_ga_* |
Google Analytics 4 | Analytics — opt-in | 13 months | Stores the state of the analytics session. Only set if you accept analytics. |
Your choices
Cookie banner
On your first visit you will see a cookie banner with two options:
“Accept analytics” and “Reject analytics.” Both options
are presented equally; there is no dark pattern and no “Accept All”
shortcut that bundles tracking with required cookies. If you reject, no
Google Analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time by
clearing the cc-consent cookie and reloading the page.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a rejection of analytics cookies, even if you have not interacted with the banner.
Browser controls
All major browsers let you block cookies, clear them, or set per-site exceptions:
If you block the strictly-necessary cookies, parts of the Site (notably the security challenge served by Cloudflare) may not work.
Do Not Track
Most browsers no longer send a meaningful Do Not Track signal. We honor the newer Global Privacy Control instead, as explained above.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change a cookie, we will update this page and the date at the top.
